I rode Catamount last night. Training race. Yah that didn’t go so well. I took Monday off, Tuesday I ran about 4 miles, fast tempo. Felt really good on the run. Not sore after. Wednesday AM I still felt good, and was optomistic that I was over the hump.
As the day wore on, I felt stiffer and sorer. Headed to the course at 5PM and felt awful. Big turn out, tried to go hard from the gun, and moved up to about 15th. Start is a longish climb, got thru most of that and realized my legs were absolute trash so I pulled up and slowed down. I still felt awful, so I slowed down more. That did not work either, so I slowed down more. Wash, rinse, repeat. This continued until I was riding along as slow as I could. Not even warm up pace. Just wanted to keep riding I guess, so I did. But that was not a confidence builder.
Oh, course is sort of boring, damn hard, lots of climbing, not very technical. The other course is nicer, and I believe the idea is to use one each day.
